With a ductless system, there is an outdoor unit that contains the compressor and condenser, and individual indoor blowers that distribute the air. The indoor blowers are connected to the outdoor unit via a conduit drilled into an exterior wall. A ductless system that provides both heating and cooling uses heat pump technology. Heat pump technology involves the use of a component called a reversing valve.
