Signs that You Need a Plumber

common plumbing problems

If you’re like most homeowners, you just expect your plumbing system to be there when you need it. Whether you’re taking a hot shower, brushing your teeth, sitting on the toilet or cooking up a feast, you expect the various fixtures, pipes, valves, and plumbed appliances to simply do what they’re supposed to. As it should be. But over time, you may find that your plumbing system has incurred some damage here and there, and that your once reliable plumbing system now fails to work properly at times. While you can count on our plumbers to take care of any problems once we’re on site, you have to let us know in the first place. In order to do that, you need to know what to look for when you need a plumber.

  • The Leak. Leaks can occur anywhere water is contained. Your hot and cold water piping endure their fair share of wear and tear over the years, especially considering the shifts in temperature, and the constant water pressure. If you notice any evidence of water leaks anywhere in your plumbing system (including any piping connected to your boiler), then it’s best to get it looked at straightaway. Leaks can also occur in your wastewater system. Leaks do not go away on their own, so having them fixed straightaway is crucial.
  • The Clog. You probably don’t ever want to look down your drains, but if you did, then you would probably find a fair bit of accumulated organic debris therein. Unless you recently had your drainpipes cleaned, then your wastewater system is probably not as effective as it could be. The best way to prevent problems with your wastewater system is to have your sewer line hydro-jetted and your drains professionally cleaned. Nevertheless, sometimes clogs happen no matter what you do. If you have a persistent clog or clogged pipes throughout the home, make sure you hire a local plumber to come have a look.
  • The Smell. If it smells less than pleasant in your home or outside in the yard, you probably have some kind of issue with your drain and sewer system. Only a trained professional can figure out what it is. If something smells funky, you need a plumber.
